Takoon Pump Wood 80 Board

The Takoon Pump Wood 80 is the board at the centre of the FoilHive pump packs, 80 cm of paulownia on full carbon foil boxes, built for flat water and dock starts.

What it does

Pump foiling has no wave and no wing to get you going, so the board has to be short enough to swing through a pump cycle and stiff enough to put every bit of that effort into the foil. A flat tail rocker and a minimal nose rocker keep the power going straight into the mast rather than bleeding out through the shape, which is what makes the first pump after a dock start feel direct rather than vague.

Why paulownia

Paulownia is one of the lightest workable timbers, which keeps the board at 3 kg without a full carbon layup. It takes a knock better than a thin carbon shell and it is repairable, which matters on a board that lives in a rental fleet and gets handled by a lot of different riders. The foil boxes are full carbon, so the one part that takes all the load is the stiffest part of the board.
